Hodnocení biometrických systém? na bázi otisk? prst? od NIST aneb biometrika ješt? není perfektní

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has released its Fingerprint Vendor Technology Evaluation (FpTVE) 2003, a report covering tests of 34 commercially available biometric fingerprint systems using a database of 48,000 sets of fingerprints. The evaluation could give a boost to the biometric industry as it provides an independent measure of the accuracy and reliability of fingerprint matching systems. The report, mandated by the Patriot Act, finds that the most accurate systems come from Cogent Systems, NEC Corporation, and Sagem, with 98.6% accuracy on single finger tests, 99.6 on two-finger tests, and 99.9% on tests with four or more fingers. Users, however, will want to consider how any particular product fits their needs, and may want to conduct additional testing to handle larger fingerprint databases.
