Police in China's Guizhou Province have arrested Song Chenglin, 23, of Harbin for cracking the computers of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) and stealing 770,000 yuan ($93,000). Mr. Song allegedly opened an account with the ICBC in January 2004 using a forged identity card. On January 7, he accessed 158 accounts from an internet cafe and transferred the money to his own account. Mr. Song recruited three friends to go to separate ICBC branches and withdraw a total of $63,900. The group divided the money and Mr. Song fled to Guizhou. Mr. Song's friends were apprehended soon after the theft, tried, and convicted. Lu Guoxing was sentenced to twelve years in prison, Bu Yijun to thirteen, and Zhang Yulong to ten. Mr. Song remained at large for eight months.
